Masterclass in end of life care for stroke patients

Wythenshawe Hospital Nurse Consultants Terry Kelly (stroke) Mike Connolly (palliative care) will be leading a masterclass on end of life care.

The event is suitable for inpatient and community teams and all relevant professions including doctors and RCP CPD accreditation has been applied for (3 credits). The event will potentially help doctors evidence a range of CREST competencies including: 1.11; 2.1-3; 2.7; 3.5; 3.6; 3.10 & 3.14-21; 3.24; 3.26-27. It may also meet criteria within the Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board sub specialty training curriculum for stroke medicine, especially in section 3, 6 and 13.

The event will cover:

  • Recognising dying
  • Breaking bad news
  • When dying people don’t die
  • Prescribing at the end of life

‘End of life care for stroke patients’ (code: 130077) has been approved for 3 credits, and the activity is now live on the database. ‘End of life care for stroke patients’ has been approved by the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom for 3 category 1 (external) CPD credit(s).
