Health Care Assistants training #2

The 2nd session in our series of events aimed at Health Care Assistants (other unqualified staff such as Therapy Assistants are also welcome) will focus on understanding and supporting communication impairments after brain injury.

The masterclass will be led by Salford Royal Speech and Language Therapists Naomi Sirkett & Nikki Taylor. It will focus on:

– How do we speak, listen, read and write and how these things can be affected following a brain injury

– Dysarthria, dysphasia and dyspraxia – what do these terms mean and practicing recognising them

– A practical session on supporting your patients with communication difficulties

16th December – Goal setting (Carolyn Shimwell & Shelley Ratcliffe) & tbc

2021 – Nutrition & swallowing (tbc)
